PM Modi in Mann Ki Baat: Operation Sindoor Reflects the Spirit of New India

Published on May 26, 2025 by Vivek Kumar

In his 111th edition of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Operation Sindoor as more than a counter-terrorism initiative—it was, in his words, a "symbol of a transforming India". Addressing the nation on Sunday, May 25, 2025, PM Modi praised the bravery and precision of the Indian armed forces and highlighted how indigenous technology and defence manufacturing were at the core of the successful mission.

A Strike That Echoed Across Borders

Launched on the night of May 6-7, Operation Sindoor was India’s swift and strategic response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam. The Indian military targeted nine terrorist camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), striking deep into the infrastructure of terror outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen.

PM Modi, in his address, shared that visuals of the destroyed terror hubs served as a stark reminder of India’s unwavering commitment to national security. “This was a mission that mirrored our courage, resolve, and the strength of our ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’,” he said.

Home-Grown Power: ‘Make in India’ Weapons in Action

One of the standout highlights of the mission was the extensive use of indigenously developed weapons and technology. From drones to targeting systems, much of the operation was powered by equipment manufactured in India.

“Our brave soldiers showcased ultimate valour—supported not just by their courage but also by weapons and technologies Made in India,” PM Modi added, reiterating India’s stride toward defence self-reliance.

Nationwide Response: Poetry, Paintings & Patriotism

The Prime Minister also spoke about the emotional wave of patriotism the operation sparked across the nation. In cities like Katihar and Kushinagar, newborns were named ‘Sindoor’ in honour of the operation. Youth participated in civil defence activities, while school children created paintings and poems, expressing gratitude to the forces.

“In Bikaner, I received paintings by children that beautifully captured the spirit of Operation Sindoor,” PM Modi noted. He also mentioned massive Tiranga Yatras, patriotic marches and the overwhelming presence of Operation Sindoor tributes on social media platforms.

'Vocal for Local': A Renewed Pledge

Using the momentum of the operation's success, PM Modi urged citizens to deepen their commitment to “Vocal for Local”—a call to buy Indian products, travel domestically, and support local artisans and businesses.

“Let’s resolve that wherever possible in our lives, we will prefer Indian-made goods. It is not just about economic self-sufficiency—it is participation in the nation’s progress,” he said.

A Defining Moment in Counter-Terror Strategy

Operation Sindoor, hailed as a paradigm shift in India’s counter-terrorism doctrine, marked a departure from reactive policies to a proactive stance against terror threats across the border.

While the mission achieved tactical success, strategic analysts believe its long-term impact will lie in deterrence and India’s growing capability to act decisively using its own defence infrastructure.

Conclusion

Operation Sindoor, as emphasized by Prime Minister Modi, is more than just a military win. It is the embodiment of India’s new identity—self-reliant, bold, and unafraid to act when provoked. Through the lens of Mann Ki Baat, it also becomes a moment of collective national pride, where every citizen feels connected to the armed forces' efforts and inspired by a vision of a stronger India.
