Border Security Force (BSF) personnel shot and killed a Pakistani national attempting to infiltrate the India-Pakistan international border in Banaskantha district, Gujarat, on Friday night.
According to an official BSF statement, alert troops spotted a suspicious individual advancing towards the border fence after crossing the international boundary. Despite repeated challenges to stop, the intruder continued moving forward, forcing the troops to open fire. The intruder was neutralised on the spot. The BSF also released a photograph of the deceased.
Security forces have been on high alert following recent ceasefire violations by Pakistan, including cross-border shelling in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor. In Rajasthan, BSF personnel are maintaining a strong presence along the international border in Jaisalmer, working diligently to prevent any potential threats.
“Border Security Force is the first line of defence and is always alert on the border,” said Yogendra Singh Rathore, DIG, Jaisalmer BSF. He recalled the BSF’s critical role since its formation, including during the 1971 India-Pakistan war and the Kargil conflict, both of which ended in India’s favour.
Rathore further added, “After the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, where innocent citizens were killed, we were ready to give a befitting reply. We stood firmly behind the decisions taken by the Government of India and were prepared to stop any misadventure right there.”
The BSF continues to vigilantly monitor the border to prevent infiltration attempts and uphold the country’s security.
