Udaipur is witnessing intense communal tension following a violent incident at a local government school. Earlier today, a class 10 student was stabbed by his classmate, leading to a series of violent clashes and unrest in the city.

The incident took place in Udaipur’s Madhuban area, where tensions escalated after a student identified as a Muslim allegedly stabbed his Hindu classmate, Devraj, outside the school premises. The accused, a minor, has since been detained by authorities after fleeing the scene.

Eyewitnesses report that Hindu right-wing groups quickly mobilized, leading to a violent backlash. Protesters vandalized a shopping mall, set fire to several cars, and engaged in stone-pelting. The situation grew increasingly chaotic, prompting the Udaipur Police to deploy lathi-charges and impose Section 144 to curb the violence.

The injured student, Devraj, is currently under observation in an ICU. District Collector Arvind Poswal confirmed that his condition is stable. Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal has announced that additional police forces have been deployed to restore order in the affected areas.

In response to the incident, various Hindu organizations have shut down businesses across several key areas of Udaipur, including Hathipol, Chetak Circle, Bapu Bazaar, Ghantaghar, and Ashwini Bazaar. Tensions have even spilled over to MB Hospital, where the accused minor is being treated, with protestors demanding his immediate arrest and severe punishment.

Authorities are urging calm as they investigate the circumstances leading up to the stabbing. Police have yet to confirm the exact nature of the altercation between the two students but assure that a thorough investigation is underway.
