35-year-old Nadir Shah, an Afghan-origin gym owner, was shot dead in the upscale Greater Kailash-1 neighborhood of South Delhi on the night of September 12. The brutal murder, captured on CCTV, unfolded in full public view, highlighting the growing concern over gang wars in the capital.
The Chilling Incident
The incident occurred at around 10:40 pm, when Shah was conversing with another individual next to parked cars. The video footage, exclusively accessed by NDTV, shows a man in a chequered shirt approaching the pair and opening fire. As Shah’s companion ducks and flees, the attacker continues shooting at Shah before making a swift getaway on a nearby motorcycle.
The shooter fired approximately six to eight rounds, leaving behind bullet casings and projectiles at the scene. Shah was rushed to Max Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Gang Affiliation and Allegations
Rohit Godara, a close associate of Goldy Brar from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the murder in a social media post. According to the post, Shah was targeted due to his alleged interference with the gang’s business dealings. NDTV has yet to verify the authenticity of this claim.
Shah, who resided in Chittaranjan Park and also owned a business in Dubai, had several criminal cases against him and was reportedly a police informant with connections to senior Delhi Police officials.
Police Response and Investigation
The Delhi Police’s Special Cell has detained six individuals, including two who were present during the shooting. The authorities have recovered a significant cache of ammunition and discovered that these suspects were involved in acquiring firearms and conducting reconnaissance in the area. Despite these developments, the shooter remains at large, and the investigation continues to locate him.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan confirmed that the attackers arrived on a two-wheeler, executed the shooting, and then fled the scene. The police are intensifying their efforts to apprehend the perpetrator and dismantle the gang’s operations in Delhi.
