Kolkata Doctor Rape-Murder Case: CBI Interrogates ASI Anoop Dutt Linked with Accused Sanjay Roy

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday questioned an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Kolkata Police, believed to have close ties with Sanjay Roy, the main accused in the recent rape and murder case at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College.

The ASI, identified as Anoop Dutt, was asked about his association with Roy and any information he might have regarding the night of the crime. The CBI has reportedly obtained several photographs of Dutt with Roy, which led them to further investigate Dutt’s connection to the accused.

Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer currently in custody, was also interrogated by the CBI about his interactions with the victim and other relevant details concerning the incident. The investigation agency is also planning to question Roy’s family members in the coming days.

In a related development, Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College, was summoned by the CBI for the fifth consecutive day on Tuesday. The investigators focused on discrepancies in his previous statements and questioned him about the demolition of a nearby section of the seminar room, which took place during the investigation. Dr. Ghosh faces allegations of neglecting his duties and attempting to obstruct the investigation.

Additionally, two Assistant Commissioners of Police and an inspector have been suspended following the August 14 vandalism at the hospital. Assistant Commissioners Shakir Uddin Sardar, Ramesh Shah Chowdhury, and Inspector Rakesh Minz are under departmental inquiry for their alleged negligence while on duty that night.

To date, 37 individuals have been arrested in connection with the mob violence and damage caused at the hospital.
