The CBI has identified discrepancies in Ghosh's statements compared to witness testimonies. There are concerns that Ghosh may have deleted crucial information from his phone. In parallel, Kolkata Police have filed a corruption case against Ghosh. This follows an investigation into financial irregularities at the hospital, which has been under review since a complaint was lodged in June. The state government had previously set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to address these issues.

The CBI has also questioned four students from RG Kar Medical College, who were reported to have dined with the trainee doctor on the night of the incident. Investigators revisited the crime scene and interviewed close friends of the victim. The accused, Sanjay Rai, will undergo a polygraph test, a method used to detect deception. The court has granted permission for this test, with the exact date to be confirmed soon. Meanwhile, the CBI, with assistance from CFSL officials in Delhi, conducted a psychological evaluation of Rai. The Supreme Court is set to hear petitions related to this case today. Various organizations, including the Delhi Medical Association (DMA) and the Federation of Association of Medical Consultants of India (FAMCI), have urged the court to take suo moto cognizance of the matter.
