The post-mortem report of a trainee doctor at R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, who was raped and subsequently murdered, has revealed sixteen external and nine internal injuries. According to sources, the autopsy was conducted on August 9 between 6:10 PM and 7:10 PM.
The report states that “the death occurred due to strangulation and suffocation” and clearly indicates it as a case of murder. It further mentions “medical evidence of rape” against the victim. The report highlights sixteen external injuries on the body, including scratches on the cheeks, lips, nose, neck, hands, and knees, along with injuries to the private parts. Additionally, nine internal injuries were found in the muscles of the neck, skull, and other parts. The report notes that “all injuries occurred before death, indicating the victim’s attempts to resist.”
The report was signed by Professor Apurva Biswas from the Forensic Medicine and Toxicology Department of R.G. Kar Medical College, Associate Professor Reena Das from the same department, and Assistant Professor Mouli Banerjee from the Forensic Medicine Department of NRS Medical College and Hospital. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the case of the doctor’s rape and murder in Kolkata on Tuesday. According to the cause list published on the Supreme Court’s website, a bench headed by the Chief Justice will hear the matter on August 20.
