Allegations against Dr. Sandeep Ghosh Corruption and the mystery of Kolkata Rape and Murder Case

On Wednesday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) continued its interrogation of Sandeep Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, in connection with the rape and murder of a junior doctor. This marks the sixth consecutive day Ghosh has been questioned, totaling over 74 hours of investigation.

The CBI, which took over the investigation from the Kolkata Police following a directive from the Calcutta High Court, has also summoned Ghosh’s driver for questioning. A thorough search of the driver’s car was conducted as part of the probe.

In addition, Bulbul Mukhopadhyay, the recently appointed medical superintendent of RG Kar Medical College, was summoned by the CBI. Mukhopadhyay’s transfer later in the day by the state Health Department came in response to demands from protesting junior doctors. During her questioning, Mukhopadhyay was asked about the management of the hospital and Ghosh’s role.

Dr. Arunabh Dutta Chowdhury, the head of the Pulmonary Medicine Department where the deceased junior doctor was employed, was also questioned for the second day.

The CBI is set to present an update on the investigation to the Supreme Court on Thursday. The agency is focusing on two key figures in the case: Sanjay Roy, the main accused, and Sandeep Ghosh. The CBI has submitted 3D scans of the crime scene, along with relevant documents and video footage, to the Supreme Court. The investigation has included multiple recreations of the crime scene and detailed analysis of CCTV footage showing the accused’s movements.

The CBI is exploring two primary lines of inquiry regarding Sandeep Ghosh: whether Sanjay Roy acted alone or if there were other individuals involved in the crime.
