The Ministry of Railways has announced a reduction in the advance reservation period for train tickets from 120 days to 60 days. This new policy, set to take effect on November 1, 2024, is aimed at simplifying the booking process for travelers across India.
Key Changes:
- The new rule reduces the Advance Reservation Period (ARP) from 120 days to 60 days, making it easier for passengers to book tickets closer to their travel dates.
- The change applies to all domestic passengers, except for those booking international tickets, which will remain unaffected.
- Certain trains that already have a shorter ARP, such as the Gomti Express and Taj Express, will also not be impacted by this policy change.
The decision is expected to be particularly beneficial for travelers who found the four-month booking window too lengthy and restrictive. Now, passengers will have more flexibility to plan their trips closer to the date of travel.
Passengers are advised to adjust their travel plans according to the new 60-day reservation window starting in November.
