What Happened That Night in Muzaffarpur’s New Tola Gopalpur?

A 14-year-old girl’s partially naked body was found in the water with severe injuries in New Tola Gopalpur of Lalu Chapra under Paroo police station in Muzaffarpur. Her face was covered, and there were blood stains and pieces of flesh scattered around. It is suspected that she was raped before being brutally assaulted with a sharp weapon.

Since the incident, the situation in the village has been tense. People are frightened, and some are trying to give the incident a caste-based angle. No one is willing to speak openly. The police are investigating the matter, and their presence in the village is constant. While small groups of people can be seen around the village, none are willing to speak. The situation is gradually stirring up caste tensions. Given the seriousness of the situation, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rakesh Kumar also visited the site to investigate.

On Monday, the discovery of the minor girl’s body in Lalu Chapra, Paroo police station area of Muzaffarpur, has led to widespread unrest. Political activity has also intensified, especially after a social media post by Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mayawati, prompted by the state unit of the BSP. Leaders of various organizations, including Bhim Army, have started visiting the village, demanding justice for the victim.

When News Media tried to speak to the victim’s mother about the incident, she broke down, overwhelmed with grief. She alleged that 41-year-old Sanjay Yadav, a resident of the village, killed her younger daughter. She further claimed that Sanjay Yadav, whose wife had passed away six months ago, wanted to marry her daughter. He would often pressure her to agree to the marriage. On Sunday night, while her husband and son were sleeping outside, she and her daughter were inside the house when Sanjay Yadav, along with some associates, forcibly took her daughter away. The next morning, her body was found in a pond in the village.

The victim’s brother is also in shock, revealing that five people had broken into their house late Sunday night, forcibly took his sister, and threatened to rape and kill her. The villagers are gripped with fear following the brutal murder of a minor girl. According to the villagers, the girl’s body had more than 50 wounds, as if the attacker was some sort of psychopath. The body bore several deep cuts inflicted with a knife and a sharp farming tool, and her breast was also mutilated.

Villagers believe there were more than 50 wounds on the girl’s body, leading them to suspect that the killer might have been a psychopath. Muzaffarpur SSP Rakesh Kumar, who visited the village, stated that prima facie, it appears to be a case of murder. The exact details will be clear once the post-mortem report is received. Meanwhile, police are conducting raids to arrest the main accused.
