In Maharashtra’s Beed district, a waiter at a roadside hotel was dragged by a car for over 1km and later robbed of Rs 11,500 after he asked a group of customers to settle their food bill. The incident took place on the night of September 7 on the Mehkar-Pandharpur Palkhi route.

According to reports, three men had stopped for dinner at the roadside eatery. After finishing their meal, they requested the waiter to bring a UPI QR code scanner to make the payment. However, an argument ensued, and as the men attempted to flee without paying, the waiter tried to stop them by opening the car door.

CCTV footage from the scene shows the men driving off with the waiter hanging out of the door as they sped away. An employee from the hotel chased the car and even threw a brick at it, but the vehicle continued speeding with its door open.

The police revealed that the men held the waiter hostage in their car overnight. They blindfolded him, beat him up, and robbed him of Rs 11,500 before abandoning him in a secluded area.

A case has been registered at the Dindrud police station, and further investigations are underway to apprehend the suspects.
