The father of the deceased trainee doctor from RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has made serious allegations regarding the handling of his daughter’s body. According to him, her body was hastily cremated, even though there were reportedly three bodies at the crematorium. He claims that his daughter’s body was cremated first, without proper cooperation from the police or hospital authorities.
“The Chief Minister is talking about justice, yet there are attempts to silence the common people demanding it. We are not satisfied with the Chief Minister’s response and have refused any compensation,” the father told news agency ANI.
The 31-year-old trainee doctor was found raped and murdered inside a seminar hall at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9. Her parents initially received a call claiming their daughter had committed suicide.
The father criticized the hospital, alleging that the entire department was involved in covering up the incident. “The college did not cooperate with us at all,” he said.
The doctor’s mother recounted receiving a call from the hospital indicating her daughter was ill, only to be disconnected. “When I called back, they told me to come to the hospital, and then an Assistant Superintendent informed us that our daughter had committed suicide,” she said.
Upon arriving at the hospital, the mother described disturbing conditions: “We were only allowed to see her body at 3 PM. Her pants were open, and there was only a single cloth on her body. Her hand was broken, and blood was coming out of her eyes and mouth. It was clear that she had been murdered.”
The mother expressed frustration over the investigation, noting that only one person has been arrested so far and speculating that many more might be involved. She criticized the police and alleged that the Chief Minister imposed Section 144 to suppress protests.
“They did not cooperate with us at all; their only aim was to hush up the case quickly. Their goal was to complete the post-mortem and remove the body as soon as possible,” the mother added.
The allegations highlight ongoing tensions and dissatisfaction with the handling of the case, as the family continues to seek justice for the murdered doctor.
